The New Spirit

There is a certain wistfulness to the season right now. Spring is nudging her shoulder against the trees and and beaming down on the soil. Easter, no matter how your recognize it, really encompasses that spirit of renewal and hope for a new season, better and brighter than the last. That's why we plan, we plant and we delight in seeing our gardens come to life once again.

Hope your Easter was wonderful!

Dear Ms.S, I do so agree with all that you have said here. This is a time for renewal and, of course, everything is always going to be better than before.

I do hope that you are enjoying a very happy and peaceful Easter weekend.

Lovely sentiment...we're sort of quivering on the edge of spring-in-earnest here but also are quite aware that the weather can turn on us again, because it IS only early April. We need to remember this, even when we want to be doing a dozen different things in the garden. But in the meantime, I'm revelling in the warm weather.

Dear Edith: It is such a time of promise, isn’t it. Thank you for your kind wishes; our Easter has been lovely. I hope yours was too!

Jodi: I will be okay if we get a little more snow, :) I’m just not prepared for any more deep freezes – for many more months. I want a nice, soft, steady rain now – April showers, please!

Kiki: Thank you! I hope your Easter was wonderful. :-)

Rebecca: The same wishes for you, Rebecca! This was my little guy’s first time he had a glimmer that something special was happening. I am just loving seeing the world through his eyes. It's all fun again! :)

Sheryl: Hi! I too have this secret belief that my garden will be better than ever this year! We are such optimists, aren’t we. ;)

miss m: Thank you. We did have a wonderful Easter. I hope yours was too!

what beautiful writing -- yours and Arundati Roy. I love her writing and you've chosen such a beautiful quote.

When I read your post, I was enveloped in fine writing.

I hope your Easter was joyful as well.

oh me again ...

I was in Edmonton over the Easter long weekend. I haven't been to Hole's Greenhouse in a couple years. What a treat! Naturally, I couldn't leave without a few purchases. I'm looking forward to checking out their spa, the roof garden, and all the other exciting things Jim and his family have planned.

Hi Diane, Thank you for the kind words. I just love that quote; it makes me be still and listen :)

I am so glad you got to Hole's. I love it there! I heard Jim Hole speak to the Edm Hort Soc and his plans for the new centre sound fantastic. I am so not a mall shopper...but put me in a garden centre and I could stay all day....! Hope you enjoy your purchases :)

OS&S: Ingrid, thank you and a lovely weekend to you too! :)

DGG: Thanks for stopping by! I wish it was rose time here, but alas this photo is of a miniature rose plant my hubby got me for Easter - one I hope to plant outside when it gets warmer here. :)
