Bliss in the days of repose

We are loving these days after the grand excitement of Christmas. The secrets of new toys are being discovered, the piano is being played several times a day, cheeses and chutneys are making a regular appearance on the snack tray, and we are all falling a little more in love--with life and with each other.

I've always thought the week between Christmas and New Year's feels like suspended time --golden and shimmering. I hope you are all enjoying this special time in the ways that matter most to your heart.

"It feels like marshmallows out there, mommy." ~ my 5-year-old son

Nice to find your new posts. I have just been too lazy or too busy to post on my blog. Christmas was quite quiet at our house since our son and his wife went to her parents in Innisfail Alberta for the Christmas days. We have enjoyed watching the birds come to our feeders through this time and have gone for several long drives to see who else was around as the annual Christmas Bird count is on and having seen some of the lists wanted to find them ourselves. We must have poor eyes because we have not seen much other than in our yard. One of the things which I also observed was the extreme "whiteness" of the season - earth , plants and sky all so white. Love you pictures.
Have a great New Year.

Indeed a most magical time of the year - the time in between :) Thanks for reminding me about cheese and chutnies - I knew that something was missing. Seasonal greetings to you Sherry and may the new year treat you and your garden kindly xxx

I love this time, too, relaxing with family, playing games, and eating the special treats.

Did he check to see if it tasted like marshmallows?

Shirley, It does look all soft and yummy! :)

Marguerite, Nothing like a golden afternoon on sparkling snow to remind one of the beauty of our gardens all year 'round.

Sweetbay, Thank you! I am so glad I have some trees to add structure and texture in the winter. :)

Clayton, I am enjoying the winter birds this year too. I see the ravens are starting to flock a bit. Last year I saw a flock of them in late January swoop and dance in their annual courting ritual. I hope to get some pictures of it this year.

I look forward to hearing about what you've got growing in under the lights. :)

All the best for a wonderful new year!!

Anna, I hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday. All the best for 2013!

Northern Shade, Santa brought a new toboggan this year and now that the warmer weather has returned we are out in the snow often over these holidays.

Wishing you all the best for the new year!

All the best in 2013. I did get your comment up so see it as you will not get a follow up. My finger was too wide on the Tablet and I hit delete by mistake so had to past it in!

It's a marshmallow world! Yes, even over here in usually-bleak-in-January Toronto. My plants are loving their winter blanket. Hope it lasts! Cheers, Ms. S.
