When Night Shimmers

"If a June night could talk, it would probably boast that it invented romance.”~Bern Williams

it's that time of year, here at latitude 53, as we approach the shortest night of the year, when it doesn't really get completely dark at night. I find that in June I barely sleep.

I think I just don't want to miss anything--the birdsong, the lilac perfume on the air, the soft, fresh green of new summer. Because our back garden is private, I like to sneak out in my pyjamas and soak it in--dozing in my lounger with a blanket.

June makes me feel like a teenager again going to a summer dance. The world is beautiful and everything is possible.

Happy June Ms.S !
I find that too .. that the tail end of May into June is magical.
The scent of plants and trees is amazing .. I soak it in as much as possible when I am working in the garden and it is the best medicine in the world for me .. we have not had good rainfall until today .. this is the best medicine for the garden : ) ... I knew it was coming but I watered a few areas to give the rain a better chance of penetrating .. I do regret taking pictures yesterday while I worked .. i missed some peonies as they wee finishing.
But I am VERY glad to have the work I was doing DONE! haha
Keep sneaking out and enjoying your garden ... it truly is magical !

Wow, you *are* so far north, to be getting barely dark at night! Although I don't envy your winters, I do envy that. So many times I have wished that it would stay light until at least 11 pm. The early evening hours are the best.

Your son is getting big! Enjoy this magical time of year!

A wonderful time of the year indeed:) We are at the same latitude as you and I have to agree that there is not much real darkness at this time of year. We went to Norway a few Mays ago and were amazed how much later it was before we saw even the faintest sign of dusk. A most surreal experience.

How wonderful to sleep outside at night. You must not have mosquitos. If my winters were as harsh as yours, I'd spend all summer outside. :o)
