One Ringy Dingy...Two Ringy Dingys...

Time to stop and smell the roses. Literally. Life has been going at top speed with a major career change and that secret season called "soccer."

Who knew that Under Sixes needed to play two nights a week? Not me--or Coach Daddy. :)

I am trying an experiment here with this post. I am actually phoning it in.
Really. I took the photos with my phone, edited them, and am now sitting in the rain in the gazebo posting them with the blogger app.

I don't see any way to format the actual post, so it looks like it will be all words on top and photos on bottom--or the other way around. :)

If the photos are on the bottom, please do take a moment to scroll down to see them. They are of the trio of J. P. Connell roses I put in last July. It was so wet that month that the buds rotted on the stem.

I must say I am rather chuffed that they are all blooming their little heads off this year. They sit at the front of a corner curve of the bed and steal the show. It was raining when I took these shots so you may see some drops on them.

So much going on in the garden and in my life right now (all good!) that I think I'll need to make a pot of tea and write a chatty post. As soon as soccer is over. :)

OK, time to hit "send" and see what this post looks like.

Hope you are all having a glorious time of it in your gardens! ((hugs))

Looks very good from here. Noticed you were missing in action in my Reader list for a while.!
We are nearly into sunshine these days so everything, quack grass included, is growing like mad. I am not keeping up with posting pictures but have had one of the best springs for Columbine and early Clematis. Definitely a year to collect seeds.

Hi Clayton,

A great year for my clematis, macropetala 'Lagoon' and columbine, aquilegia 'Beidermeier.' The clematis was simply covered in flowers and the columbine are still going strong.

We did lose some plants this very dry winter, but those two couldn't be more vigorous. We put down a heaping of compost around all our plants and shrubs in the spring and I think that may have helped them get a good start.

Your clematis are looking fantastic!! :)

You might be on to something, what a great idea, phoning in your post...

OMG ! Ms S this is spectacular to be able to phone in a post! Now would you have thought it possible say two years ago? LOL
I am glad to see one of my favorite roses highlighted in this post. My JP Connell is a little behind but the weather is back and forth so I can blame it on that .. right ? .. I also am very busy in the garden .. yesterday was a marathon day but it is glorious to know so much has been accomplished and even after hand watering I don't mind the extra rain at all ... it is all GOOD !
Take time to breath and have that tea girl!!

What gorgeous roses! My daughter is 17 and our soccer season still hasn't ended. Now it's community league spring and fall soccer and high school early spring soccer. You may be under that gazebo for a very long time! :o)

Joy, it is pretty cool! I think it will work best for impromptu one-shot postings or something like Wordless Wednesday. The Blogger phone app is pretty rudimentary.
And yes, soccer season is almost over and I can't wait for that pot of tea! :)

Casa Mariposa, Aren't the JP Connell's gorgeous! I love their elegant shape and long buds.
Sounds like you know all about the secret soccer season (that never ends!). I met some parents who, between their children, are at soccer four nights a week and one weekend morning. Gah! (Apparently there is also indoor soccer and winter soccer skills training...!) :)

I would never have guessed that these photos of your roses and the post itself were done using a phone. They are lovely roses and excellent pictures too.

And hugs back to you. Your photos are amazing. I'm so impressed with the merits of digital photography these days. I'm glad your roses are happier this year.

Good luck with the soccer and career change.

Little wonder they steal the show. What an amazing set of photos - with the phone no less! A friend recently told me about her 4 year old playing soccer and all the equipment needed. I was stunned. Who knew those little guys required a full set of professional duds? and practice twice a week. Surprise!

Jennifer, Thank you! The technology is amazing now. I will probably try this again. :)

Grace, Thank you for the kind wishes. I will speak more on the career change later. :)
Although we've had another wet June, there have been enough periods of hot sun to make my roses--and me--happy.Yay!

Marguerite, I hope I'm not a bad mommy but I have to say, "Thank God, soccer is finishing up!" lol
I want some leisure time in my garden, not just rushing out to garden in the rain because that's the only time I have. Crazy days. :)

I love the subtle colour in your rose. It's definitely one to have front and centre in your bed. Here's hoping that this July has the perfect balance of rain, somewhat less than the mosquito breeding rains of last year.

Northern Shade, I do love the rain, actually, but it is hard on the roses, especially when it is pelting down. I'm all for midnight showers. :)
